Kathleen Petyarre (1940-2018) is a pivotal figure in contemporary Aboriginal art. Hailing from Utopia, northwest of Alice Springs, she established herself in the 1980s with her unique style composed of refined pointillist motifs. As an inheritor of her people's traditions, she translates ancestral narratives linked to her territory onto her canvases, notably the Mountain Devil Lizard Dreaming. Awarded the prestigious Telstra National Aboriginal Art Award in 1996, her work has gained global recognition. Her creations are exhibited in major museums, including the Quai Branly in Paris.
