Wentja Morgan Napaltjarri is a renowned Aboriginal artist known for her paintings inspired by her ancestral lands near Kintore in the Gibson Desert. Born in 1948, she and her family were displaced to Haasts Bluff, far from their original territory. Her father, Shorty Lungkata Tjungurrayi, was a respected hunter and healer, as well as a pioneering artist of the Aboriginal painting movement. Her art, marked by the Tingari cycle and ancestral narratives, conveys a deep connection with her culture and environment. Her main totem, the "Blue-tongue Lizard," appears in her works as concentric circles and dot painting motifs. After learning alongside her father and participating in collective works, she began her artistic career in Mt Liebig in 1995. Quickly acclaimed, she established herself as a key figure in Aboriginal art. Wentja Morgan Napaltjarri passed away in 2021.
